We are forged by PlaygroundLA's newest incubator. We are so grateful for Playground and Jim Kleinmann for this extraordinary opportunity.

We couldn't be more excited or proud. We thought you might like to know the impetus that led to the formation of our company.

Kevin Michael Moran and I first met in a class at Antaeus Theater, "The Language Archive" a play by Julia Cho, was brought in by Elisa Nixon a fellow student and friend. Enthralled by its message (according to Ms. Cho’s philosophy) “Words don’t just express our thoughts, they create our thoughts as well.” We decided to produce as well as perform in this hidden gem. For 5 weekends the play left audiences questioning their own language and the meaning of their personal relationships.

The play provoked conversations with our audiences that would never have occurred otherwise. This is what great theater can do and why we love it.

In the course of the run Kevin and I discovered we both had equal passion for getting plays produced and we were a good team. We did not balk at raising funds, juggling all that was needed to put up a show, and we were able to resolve what ever wild card was thrown at us with a sense of humor and most importantly with kindness.

All the tasks that producing required of us while also learning our lines and rehearsing, lol. We left that experience thinking, "We are pretty good at this, wouldn't having a theater company be wonderful?" Revisiting the idea from time to time we began to imagine a world where voices and ideas, historically silenced, could be fostered and honed.

A theater company could do that!" Thus we had our mission:

"To discover untold stories, and craft them into compelling theater."

Welcome to HOUSE THEATER where we build a community, offering our audience a safe haven to witness, contemplate, question and delve into issues and themes that not only entertain but bring hope, change and acceptance in a world that often does not. Showcasing the rainbow of humanity that is repeatedly overlooked. Here at H.T. they will be seen and heard. Every race, color, gender, disability and age will have a voice because their stories matter. It is our promise that we will fight to find these stories, write them and share them.
